Mak Yong: Malaysian legacy world heritage

Mak Yong is a traditional art form that is presented in a dance drama that combines the elements of art, acting, dancing, music and singing. This art form is also a performing art genre that is rich and refined with fluid dance moves as well as harmonious singing by a chorus line of singers called inang jong dondang who acts and have spontaneous banter with Mak Yong , the queen, and all the characters - The Pak Yong Tua, the King; Pak Yong Muda, the Prince; Peran Tua, the King's elderly confidante; Peran Muda, the King's young servant; and the lineup of Inang and Tok Wak, a wizened astrologer. Mak Yong is rich with ritualistic and symbolic movements and gestures, dialogue, props, backdrops, costume and accessories.
