His majesty's death in his sleep at the Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur, was confirmed by the Court Physician at 4.00 a.m on Friday. 1st April 1960 and the information was conveyed as quickly as possible to the other Rulers, the four Undang of Negri Sembilan, the Prime Minister, the Governers, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, Service Chiefs, the Press and Radio, prominent Muslim Religious officials and certain heads of Government Departments.
