"One of the consequences of the New Economic Policy (NEP) has been the emergence of political business groups, primarily Bumiputra-dominated, which have acquired a significant interest in the corporate sector. However, to date, there has been a dearth of in-depth studies on how these groups developed and have been able to amass their wealth. This study is an attempt to fill the gap by looking at some of the groups associated with the United Malay National Organisation (UMNO).
